I currently teach מלכים-ירמיהו/ Kings-Jeremiah to 11th grade students. Please see showcased projects and rubrics available below.
King שלמה's Kingdom TOURISM Project
In this project, students were asked to create promotional materials for a tourism company offering tours of King Solomon's Israel. The בית המקדש and Shlomo's palace were featured destinations. Students also needed to include information about his cabinet & court- and even create a gift shop! Gail Schneiderman '18, Tamar Dallal '18 and Masha Matten '18 designed an excellent informational website which you can view at this link while Dena Lebowitz '17 chose to create an infographic/ flyer which you can view at this link. Tools used included Weebly and Piktochart. Please click here to view instructions and rubric.
The Royal Family Instagram Project
In this project, students were asked to create an Instagram account featuring the Davidic Dynasty. This was intended to be similar to the British Monarchy's Instagram account (link here). Students needed to use information gleaned from פרקים ג-יב of מלכים א to build the royal family's social media presence. Comments to the Instagram posts needed to be thoughtful and meaningful as well. Students had the choice of creating a real Instagram account or using the SocialDummy app to make a replica. The students did an incredible job with this project and came up with some very creative interpretations. Check out at an excellent project put together by Sara Weiss, Shoshi Bar-Meir and Rebecca Friedman below. Alternatively, view a modern-day adaptation by Tamar Chavel, Abi Brasch, Shira Cohen and Aviva Lakser at this link. Please click here to view instructions and rubric.
YIRMIYAHU PLAYLIST PROJECT
In this project, students were asked to compare פרק ב of ירמיהו with all of its fraught, relationship-filled imagery to contemporary music. The students had to create a playlist that demonstrated the mood and emotions of the פסוקים in the פרק, taking the listener on a journey to experience the full breadth of the chapter. Rebecca Mendelsberg '16 created an evocative playlist using DragOnTape and explained how each song connected to the פסוקים in a Google Doc. Listen to Rebecca's playlist here and view her explanations of each song choice at this link. Please click here to view instructions and rubric.
Yirmiyahu Movie Project
In this project, students were asked to demonstrate their knowledge of events in פרקים ז & כו by redubbing movie scenes to reflect the perakim. Tamara Soleymani '16 and Rebecca Mendelsberg '16 did a fantastic job on this with their take on "Mean Girls" turned "Mean Jews." They used iMovie to accomplish this. Please view their movie below.
